Bar / Restaurant - The Tolka House.

The Tolka House.
The Tolka House in Glasnevin, positioned next to the National Botanic Gardens, is not only a great venue for a few drinks, watching your favorite sports events, and on selected Fridays live bands! But it is also a great place for food and has a carvery Mon-Fri. 12 - 3pm and has an A La Carte Menu (sample of menu) available every day from 5pm till 10pm.except Sundays.
The food is very reasonable and has something to suit every ones taste!
The food is very tasty and well presented, and served by an enthusiastic staff that go out of their way to help cater to your needs.

The Pub & Carvery is very popular with older folk as it is so reasonable and caters very well for them and it usually has a very steady flow of people at lunch times! The weekends and Sundays especially are very popular especially since you can visit the Botanic Gardens for a nice stroll and then have lunch or dinner from the carvery.
They also do deals on Mid Week match specials
where you can watch your favorite team on the big screen while you have a pint and a carvery dinner

Covered Smoking Area.
The Pub also has a very good covered Smoking Area with heaters and a TV screen, and during the summer months they usually offer a BBQ in this covered area for all the best in BBQ meals.

Live Tribute Bands on Selected Friday Nights.
The Live music nights are very popular at the Tolka, and pack people in because the calibre of the bands is very good. No matter what your taste in music the atmosphere on these nights is so energetic that everyone enjoys themselves and there is a real 'Feel Good' factor at them. I was at one of these nights recently where the band was a David Bowie tribute band called Rebel Rebel. Really great to see a tribute band play real instruments for a change and sound great and get the crowd going!

The band got a lot of people up dancing to the ould favorites 'Ashes to Ashes, 'Rebel Rebel' etc and really created a great atmosphere.'Rebel Rebel - Facebook Page' The video opposite gives an idea of the atmosphere in the pub during one of the gigs.http://www.rebelrebeltribute.com/

Dublin Wet Spot rather than Hot Spot!

Flooding in Dublin - Dun Laoghaire last night.

Picture: Stephen Collins.

Yesterdays weather was unbelievable and brought Dublin to a standstill and probably a lot of other parts of the country! It took me a couple of hours to get across one side of the city to another and then a further couple of hours to get home!!

Across the capital it was a similar situation to many and some people left stranded completely!

 Luas Lines flooded and closed!

There were a number of cars left abandoned on my journeys and chaos everywhere!

But I was among one of the lucky ones if you could call it that! Some people were left with no power or water, others had their homes flooded, and it's only October, we haven't even had winter yet or snow!

Dundrum Shopping Centre.

Shopping Centres were left in pools of water and banks of rivers and canals burst, all contributing to the chaos and ending up with roads closed and traffic at a go-slow or complete standstill!
Watch these links they are unbelievable!

Bar / Restaurant - O' Neills.

 O' Neill's Bar.
O' Neill's bar on  Suffolk Street Dublin 2, is a great place to visit for a bite to eat and a pint!

But it's also a very atmospheric pub to go to to watch your essential sports events and have great craic with the vibe that is always present during those big events!

They have plenty of TV screens to watch all the big events and usually have something going on to watch!

They have an extensive fresh carvery each day and also a very varied menu available for to cater to all tastes!
There is also music from 9pm every night from May until the end of September, and then they have live Irish music from October to May on Sunday and Monday nights.
